About
Tioman
An island in the Seribuat Archipelago off the east coast of Johor. Tioman is part of a marine park, with healthy coral, sea turtles and the Tiger Reef / Chebeh / Renggis dive sites. The interior is rainforest with peaks, hornbills and a 7 km trans-island trek.
Tioman remains low-key by design, there are no large resort clusters, only a chain of villages (Tekek, Salang, Juara, Air Batang, Genting) connected by sea taxis. Snorkel equipment is widely rentable; kayaks open up the quieter reefs.
Dive operators run from Salang and Tekek. Tiger Reef is the headline site (colour and density). Chebeh Island delivers dramatic underwater rock formations. Renggis Island is the standard introductory dive. Night diving is offered most evenings during the high season.

The cross-island hike from Tekek (west) to Juara (east) is 7 km, 3 hours, through proper rainforest, monkeys, butterflies, hornbills. Juara on the east side is the quietest base on the island and the most secluded beach.
