Boat from Merang Jetty
The clearest water on the east coast, a protected marine park with visibility from 15 to 25 metres and white sand at Pasir Panjang. Resorts run from March to October and usually sell as a package that includes the return boat from Merang Jetty, about 45 to 60 minutes each way.

20 km offshore
Two marine-park islands about 20 km off the coast, with reef sharks, turtles and healthy coral around more than 20 dive sites. Besar is the family-friendly half, Kecil the backpacker half. There are no roads, so water taxis connect the beaches, and resorts run from March to October.

About 2.5 hours south
Pahang's east-coast capital, slower than the city, with working fishing villages, the Teluk Cempedak beach and the Cherating Turtle Sanctuary an hour north. A relaxed beach base without the resort grid, and a natural stop on a drive down the coast.
